Jacob M. Van de Krol, 87, of Peabody, died peacefully on Wednesday evening, May 22 at the Brooksby Village, Peabody with his family by his side. He was the husband of Johanna (Wildeman) Van de Krol with whom he celebrated their 65 years of marriage last February.
He was bon in Delft, Netherlands on May 25, 1931, the son of the late Marinus and Neeltje (Suiker) Van de Krol and was raised and educated there before emigrating to Peabody MA in 1954. He was an engineer for the A T.& T. Co and late the Western Electric Co in North Andover for 18 years prior to his retirement in 1989.
Jake enjoyed running and ran in the Boston Marathon in 1982 at the age of 51. He had been an avid skier having skied both here and in Europe. He was very interested in History and Sciences and genealogy had been a member of the Peabody Historical Society of many years.
He also loved gardening around his home and liked traveling throughout the world with the Elderhous program.
Besides his wife Johanna, he leaves two sons, Ronald J. and his wife Jeanete Van de Krol of Amsterdam, and Andrew J. and his husband Martin of Gorham, Maine, his two daughters, Linda J. Nicholson of Wolfeboro, NH, and Yolanda M Van de Krol and her husband Tim Magee of Paoli, PA, his nine cherished grandchildren, Kathleen and Jeffrey Nicholson, Kate and Ayat Van de Krol, Max Magee, and Juliana, Peter, Luke and Lia Van de Krol.
A Family visitation will be held at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home , Peabody . Expressions of sympathy may be made to either the Brooksby Village Benevolent Fund, 200 Brooksby Village Dr., Peabody, MA 01960 or to the Alzheimer's Association, 480 Pleasant St, Watertown, MA 02472 in his memory.
